Gothmog - Original 11x14 Oil Painting
"The age of Men is over. The time of the Orc has come."
As the brutal lieutenant of Minas Morgul, Gothmog commands Sauron's armies with ruthless efficiency during the Siege of Gondor. Though deformed and scarred, he is far from weak. Cold, calculating, and relentless, Gothmog directs the overwhelming assault upon Minas Tirith, unleashing wave after wave of Orcs, Trolls, siege machines, and the terrifying forces of Mordor. He is the embodiment of Sauron's military might, and a commander who sees every battle as another step toward the domination of Middle-earth.
Thick layers of textured brushwork emphasize every scar, wrinkle, and hardened expression, while cool blues and icy whites contrast sharply against the darkness surrounding him. His clouded eye and sneering mouth speak of a lifetime forged in cruelty, revealing a creature whose very existence has been shaped by war.
Rather than depicting the chaos of battle itself, this portrait focuses entirely on the face of the commander before the slaughter begins. His expression is one of confidence as he looks toward a city he believes is destined to fall. The swirling sky behind him mirrors the growing storm of war, creating an atmosphere of dread that foreshadows one of the greatest battles in Middle-earth.
