About the Artist

Brushes of Middle-Earth features the art of Justin Falkenstein, a devoted fan of J.R.R. Tolkien’s world ever since The Lord of the Rings movies first brought Middle-Earth to life on the big screen. At the same time, Just has always been a lifelong admirer of Vincent Van Gogh, whose bold, swirling brushstrokes and unique style have fascinated him for as long as he can remember. To Justin, Van Gogh’s art stands apart from all the other greats in history—alive with motion, emotion, and energy.

The idea for Brushes of Middle-Earth was born from a simple passion: blending two of Justin's greatest loves—Tolkien’s legendary world of Middle-Earth and Van Gogh’s unforgettable style. At first, these pieces were created for the thrill and enjoyment of seeing Middle-Earth through Van Gogh’s eyes. It was a personal creative journey, a way to celebrate both the magic of Tolkien’s storytelling and the brilliance of Van Gogh’s artistry.
